The problem

“Let's meet halfway” is harder than it sounds

  • The middle is often nowhere

    Halfway on the map is often an ocean, or a town without an airport.

  • Flight sites need a destination

    They expect you to know where you're going. For two people, you search every city twice and compare by hand.

  • Close for one, far for the other

    The easiest trip for you can be the longest trip for them. That's not a fair start to a visit.

A real example

Winnipeg and Brussels

All year round, the fairest place you can both fly to directly is Montréal, but the trip from Brussels is more than twice as long.

In summer, Reykjavík is fairer: about 6.4 hours from Winnipeg and 3.4 from Brussels. That flight only runs in summer, so we say so, clearly.

That's how MeetEven works: both people's numbers side by side, and no surprises about when a flight actually flies.

How it works

Four questions, one fair answer

  1. Where can you both go?

    We keep a map of which airports fly to which: over 93,000 direct routes. We only suggest places you can both really reach, directly or with one stop if you allow it.

  2. How long is the trip for each of you?

    We estimate each person's flying time. Real flight times and prices are next on our list.

  3. Is it fair?

    We look for the place where the effort is balanced. The longer trip counts more, so no one gets a bargain at the other's expense.

  4. Can you trust it?

    Every suggestion shows both people's numbers, why it was picked, whether the flight is seasonal, and where the data comes from.

For work, for love, or because war and crisis forced people to leave home. When your people are spread over several countries, “come visit me” isn't always possible or fair. A fair place in between often is.

Who is MeetEven for?

Two people who live in different countries and want to meet somewhere in between: couples in a long-distance relationship, friends, family, colleagues.

Why not just meet in the middle?

The middle of the map is often an ocean or a place without flights. And “halfway” in kilometres isn't halfway in hours. We look at where you can both actually fly, and how long it takes each of you.

Where does the data come from?

From public sources: Wikipedia's airport route tables and Wikidata, plus OurAirports for airport details. We check it and refresh it regularly, and every result shows the date of its data and links to its source.

Will it cost anything?

No. MeetEven is free to use. We don't sell tickets; you book wherever you like.
