Why MeetEven exists

Because the people who matter to us don't always live nearby, and meeting them shouldn't be the hard part.

It started with a friend in Canada

Oleksandr, MeetEven's founder, has a close friend, Mark, who lives in Canada. They wanted to meet somewhere in between. It sounded easy. It wasn't: you guess a city, check flights from both sides, guess again. And meeting at one person's home means one of you does all the travelling.

Oleksandr is Ukrainian. Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he has lived in Belgium, far from many of the people who matter to him. So he knows first-hand what it means when your people are spread over several countries.

Oleksandr looked for a tool that simply answers “where should we meet?”, and didn't find one that did the work. So he started building it.

We're not the only ones

More and more people live far from the people who matter to them: for work, for love, and more and more often because war or crisis forced them to leave home. Visas, cost, safety, or simply the wish to meet on neutral ground: “come visit me” isn't always possible or fair.

Our mission

Make it easy for people who live apart to meet, fairly.

Not halfway on a map: a place you can both actually reach, where neither of you travels much longer than the other, with the numbers to show it.

What we care about

  • Fair

    Balanced for both of you, not just cheap or close for one.

  • Honest

    Every suggestion shows both people's numbers, why it was picked, and when a flight only runs part of the year.

  • Open data

    Built on public data (Wikipedia, Wikidata, OurAirports) and credited where it comes from.

What's next

  • Opening MeetEven to everyone, free.
  • Real flight times and prices, and which months seasonal flights run.
  • More than two people: find a fair place for a whole family or group of friends.
